Question on tyres

Thought I would ask this question on riding in the rain of those who
know best, UK riders. I know that there are several factors in
determining which tyre is best under which conditions, including rider
size, bike and riding style and etc.

Given all that, all other factors being equal, which tyre do you
consider the absolute best for wet weather riding? If you had to pick a
tyre for a 3 day ride over various road surfaces and you anticipated
lots of rain, which brand/model would you choose?

    Thanks in advance.

I've been running Avon Azaro AV45/46's the past few years and find them
    great in the wet.

Yup. Wot he said. By *far* the best tyres I've ever used on the FJ1100 in
the wet, even under "oh shit" braking!

emerged from their own little world to say
For what the manufacturers call an adventure bike I would recommend my
current Avon Distanzias. Metzeler Tourance are also fine in the wet.

I've used both tyres in varying conditions from motorway cruising to riding
    gravel roads in the Alps.

Doing 1:06s laps round Brands in the pissing rain [1] on Pirelli
Diablos says that they're fine in the rain.
