That doesn't change the nature of the offence, some disabled people make a
decision that they don't need a disabled sticker (and that shows
consideration for other disabled people who they believe need the spots
    more).

A consideration lacking in your attitude!

Well we have to disagree then. I'd hate to think of the amount of lawsuits
involved if your verison of responsibilty was the norm.

    But strangely people keep offending.
I think we've just added another lesson to the thread.

Really... I'm afraid you are due for a wake up call then.

This is the standard to which people and companies are increasingly being
held up to in court (and so they should be), after all moral and legal
responsibility should be as closely aligned as is practicable.

I don't know any "people" who do. In fact you're the first person I've
ever seen admit that he parks in disabled spots so I guess I'll just have
to wait and see if the fine has the desired outcome or not.
If not then I guess they're just gonna' have to raise it higher until you
    DO learn the lesson.

You're more used to abusing those bits?

Just wondering how Uncle Bully feels about cars and other
non-motorcycle traffic parking in those all-too-rare designated
motorcycle parking spots. Sorry if this has been covered already in
this thread - there are so many posts I can't keep up!

  8. There's an old saying in my business: "Make something idiot proof, and
the universe will just invent a better idiot"

Feel free to keep getting $384 tickets for parking in disabled spaces...

  9. Since it happened in North Sydney, I'm pretty sure I could arrange to
attend and report to the newsgroup. Since Uncle Bully has such an
air-tight logically reasoned case, I'm sure he'll post up details of his
court appearance so that I can explain to you lot in detail just how
    brilliant his defence is!

    ;-)

big (Yes, I'm serious UB, make sure you let us know when to attend court)

No we've restricted the discussion to dickhead motorcyclists who park in
disabled parking spots. We haven't had time to expand to other
    dickheads.

mmm, fair enough - just wondered how far his tolerance extended with
regard to being on the receiving end of somebody else's dickheadedness.

Err Paul... I said the opposite of that!

I quote "I don't have a problem with the fine being posted as a deterrant"
The fine and the amount are seperate issues, I already said the fine is IMO
approximately appropriate and that I don't have a problem with it being
displayed (as long as it remains at a similar level to what it is now).
    See above..
I honestly don't know how you got that out of what I said.

My viewpoint is that having the fine displayed is a non-issue because any
extra deterrent effect will be minimal (if not completly non-existent), but
that I'm willing to humor people and have the fine put on the sign anyway...

To some extent, yes. Or more to the point, it's the whining how the law
is inappropriate, unfair and unreasonable based on extraordinarily
tenuous logic. At least it's possible to make a case against the
speeding laws using logic and facts.

And as already stated by those who bothered to respond, many people
disagree with that opinion, <shrug>, it's your opinion, enjoy it.

    JL
(a couple of hundred bucks sounds fair to me, too many dickheads park in
disabled bays that aren't entitled to)
