Until it's the death penalty. Strangely even that doesn't deter some people
    from some offences.

About $400 for parking in a disabled space is a small fine.

She might get mugged at then you'd be responsible.
The mugger of course would get let off with a warning.

Can't say I can remember the last time I got upset about that sort of thing.
If a car was parked in the only bike spot then I move on and just go and
park on the footpath or in a disabled spot somewhere ;)

No, it is large fine, a small fine is $20 or a warning.

No its a small fine, a large fine is $5,000 and a warning is not a fine at
    all, it is a warning!

    Agreed.

I don't believe there is a fine for less than $60odd for anything
    motoring related !

(go on, prove me wrong Hammo, I'd love to know what is cheap :)

They already have in America (with some success, but not large amounts)

I don't think your intellectual challege would actually qualify.

Oh, and check what the fine is first, before you try a fake permit. ;-)

    Mutual Dickhead Support System.

And here I was thinking that the MDSS's they're always going on at work
    about were something else!

Well actually they have (with some small sucess), but this is never the
less another of the red herrings you seem to keep throwing into the thread.

The fact that 'chain of responsibility' exists doesn't automatically
mean that 'contributory negligence' doesn't also exist.

That scenario assumes either that you are willing to park illegally to
offload the disabled passenger (in most cases that would mean double
    parking).

Personally I'm unwilling to double park long enough to open a car boot,
assemble a wheelchair, wheel it around to the car, get a person on it,
wheel them inside, park them, walk back to the car and shift the car.
And that ignores the fact that I'd have to double park (which can be
unsafe at the best of times), and leaves me open to a parking ticket.

Or that a normal parking bay is available in a suitable location (in
which case why didn't the person illegally using the disabled bay use
    the 'abled' bay?).

They still have $20 fines? Surely that would have a negative revenue impact.

Well, all fake permits should have the expected penalty printed on them.
    Otherwise it's not fair.
