Quick drying of soaked kit

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by CaringColleague, Oct 5, 2006.

  1. Two sets of waterproofs. Ride to work in set A. Leave set A to dry at
work during day and overnight, riding home in set B. Dry set B
overnight at home, ready for ride-to-work use the following day. Leave
set B to dry at work during day and overnight, riding home in set A.

If this approach does not work, increase the number of waterproof suits
owned until an acceptable solution is reached. :)

Caveat. Even the best textile kit can hang onto rainwater for quite
some time. It took my BMW Goretex suit four days to dry out completely,
after a day-long ride from Northampton to Bodmin and back in torrential
rain during March 2005, even though not a drop got inside the suit.

she's working for Belfast City Council - hardly likely a potential
    cure for cancer.

There's a real answer staring you all in the face and none of you dare
    come out with it.

The problem with most waterproof textile suits is that the breathable
waterproofing layer is inside the cordura or whatever. The answer must
surely be to either purchase a garment with the waterproofing on the outside
where it belongs, or treat the cordura or whatever with Nikwax so it doesn't
soak up so much water. Innit.

Quite so. I biked today while Manchester lived up/down to it's
reputation and rained solidly all the way home. I wasn't even damp.

Perhaps the chap in question needs to get a proper waterproof oversuit
and some decent gloves and boots.

HG PVC waterproof jacket pulled on over your usual leather. Works
    perfectly.

I thought even you would draw the line at fucking someone so dim she
can't get a job working for anyone better than Belfast City Council...

Is Belfast City Council worse than, say, a North London Council then?

I was rather hoping she might be Taig. One likes to stick it up the

I just checked. All the Reps in BCC are Caucasian from some sort of
Christian background. A lot better than NLC then, possibly. Then again
the entire Greater Belfast area only had 2500 registered ethnics.
    http://www.gotobelfast.com/download...pdf#search=""belfast city council" ethnicity"

OTOH given some of the BCC representatives one might swap them for a NLC
    tomorrow.
