But you wouldn't want to be a **** and make a false claim, pushing up
the general cost of insurance for everyone else (and yourself in the
    process), would you?

This is always a tricky one. Personally I wouldn't claim I'd wrecked
an expensive crash helmet unless I had actually done so. On the other
hand I wouldn't hesitate to do what I suggested to Nick a few days ago
which was to let his insurance lapse for a day to get his premium down
and if the bike was stolen report it a day later.

Both examples are morally and legally wrong and the one I would do is
probably the more serious of the two if plod get involved but that's
life and I'll just have to cope with it. I know more than one person
who's made a dodgy claim on their bike insurance and I'm sure it'll
    happen again.

I had the opportunity of putting in a dodgy claim after the Smidsy
last year for my clocks but didn't bother. I work with insurance all
the time (although not vehicle insurance) and I pester people who I
feel are making dodgy claims so I understand that making dodgy claims
    is considered a bad thing.

One could say that failing to disclose an Fault accident to an
insurance company a bad thing too. But that didn't stop me not
reporting my 'throw it down the road' incident last April.

I've been in a position whereby I could have put a false claim in for
my clocks last year too on someone elses insurance but I didn't.

But they might have been further damaged in that accident so you could
    have claimed....

Just for the record I'll freely admit that if someone either knocks me
off my bike or knocks it over when it's parked I will be claiming for
the damage caused when it fell off its stand. I don't regard this as a
false claim because I'll have actually kept insurance payouts down by
not repairing it the first time.

I'm seriously considering parking close to a certain R1 at the bosm
because it's owner has previous for letting his bike fall over and
it'll be his no claims goes for a **** not mine.
