  1. Test rode ZX9 today.
1997 Model with 65000k on the clock. The log book is fully serviced up to
and including the 60,000 mark. It is very tidy with new front tyre and near
new rear. Rides very straight and smooth. There is lots of meet on the
    brakes. All standard, including pipe.

On road including 12 months rego from when i buy it it will cost $8800 ride
    away.

Have $200 holding deposit on it tomorrow...fully refundable. So im after
opinions. The bike is at Yamaha, Davenport Street, Southport.

    Cheers Guys,
    Josh

  2. Does that make it the first model (B) or the second (C)? The C came out in
December 1997 as a '98 model, so there are a fair few of them around that
    are plated with '97 compliance?
    If it's a ZX9-B, then I'd pass. $8800 is a **** of a lot of money for one of
those. Even for a C-model, it's verging on the expensive.

Had some calls from guys in the know down south.....they were basically too

Everyone knows that Jap bikes are rooted by the time they do 40 000 kays!

So, a daily rider CB250 running strong with over 60K miles on the clock is
an anomaly? I know of another with about 49K on the meter. There are a few
CB750's in town that are pushing 80K miles. Honda must build them better.

  16. Granted my GPz600R which is sitting being cleaned up in my garage has
145,000km on the clock. It still runs like a champion and will tackle any
trip i throw at it. It is time for a rebuild as the Hyvo chain from crank to
gearbox (yeah, no gear drive then) is slappin like a bitch and the cam chain
is due for replacement too. But im still not prepared to spend soo much
money (for a student) on something with alot of k's on it.

    Cheers,
    Josh

Queue large numbers of posts of people with Jap bikes with >40000 kays on
    the clock.

(Incidentally, the GPX didn't need a rebuild till 75,000km, and the ZX10
still has good compression at 125,000km.)

  17. That cant be right. My VTR250 is going to be put out for the council clean
up collection as it has "far too many" kays on it.

Everyone knows jap bikes are made to fall apart, just ask a dealer when you
    want to trade.

The only bit that sounds good is the logbook part. But I'd give it a miss.
I was looking for similar bike in the same price range and trust me you can
do a lot better. Just go to every bike yard in the area and keep going
back. A gem will turn up, just a matter of time.

  20. Yep, i knocked it back this morning. Thats what im doing now...
unfortunately im in the middle of exams for another 8 days so far. So i dont
have the time to get out and look. Not to mention a lack of wheels makes it
really hard. Anyways, thanks for the advice. Drop us a line if something
    turns up...hehe
