R&G Tail tidies

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Whinging Courier, Mar 6, 2006.

  1. Two weeks ago I ordered one and when it hadn't arrived after a week I
phoned up and was told "end of the week".

Guess what? Just phoned again: "End of the week"

Cunts. If I'd not given them my CC details I'd cancel the fucking thing
and buy a cheaper and better looking one off eBay.

Do a BGWobbler and ask why it's more likely to be in this end of the
week as opposed to the last end of the week.

I'll need to talk to someone in charge. The "receptionist" sounds like
she's either on work experience or else she's got a very squeaky voice
and doesn't have much idea of what's going on.

    Not a bad idea though.

I can't even check to see if the payment's gone through because my
online bank account's locked me out.

I'll try again around lunchtime and ask to speak to SWK.

    Ta.

BTW, what should my next line be? They're bound to come out with some
    "good reason".

The receptionist may still be able to help you. Is she a Customer
Service Bod? Remember that just because you ask to speak to Someine
In Charge she doesn't actually have to put you through to Someone In
Charge if they're not going to be able to help you either.
Ask 'em if they've charged you yet and if they haven't I would suggest
asking if you can cancel the order and get it elsewhere. Only say you
want to cancel it if you really want to cancel it though and you know
you can get it from somewhere else in a speedier fashion.
If it's a good reason then that's fine. You've entrusted them to be
your agent for this order and they haven't delivered as promised. It
would be reasonable for them to tell you why they haven't managed to
get the goods to you in the time limit they gave you.

  5. R&G do appear to be complete cunts. Andy bought a bracket for his reg
plate and they failed the mention that if he used standard indicators
he'd need to buy an extra bracket. he paid over the phone and a month
    later they still haven't arrived.

    Yup.

On Lozzo's advice, I phoned yamaha Sport and Leisure who stock R&G
accessories. They didn't have what I wanted as it turned out but a brief
chat about the situation revealed they don't give much more of a ****
about their distributors, either, taking as much time or even longer to
supply them with parts that have been paid for but aren't in stock.

I've cancelled my order now and despite assurances I hadn't paid because
the order hadn't been completed, I recieved a phonecall minutes later
saying something along the lines of "Oops, sorry, you have paid because
we use a third-party to take money for web orders".

I really wasn't happy about giving my CC details over the phone as they
wanted to know *everything*; even start date as well as expiry and the
    security code and everything.

    I can't help feeling I've been a **** by divulging this stuff but I'd
hoped they'd refund my money stright back to my card. Whether I get it
    remains to be seen.

If I take a telephone order, I need: Name, Card Number, Address, CVV2,
Expiry Date, Issue Number (if applicable). I've never needed the incept
    date.

I *do* tell people that ordering stuff from the site is more secure as
we just get approval for the transaction and no card information - but,
no... "I prefer to use the phone".

    Sheesh.

Same as most web orders. Only rarely do I need to put the issue
number/security code in and that's, from memory, people like Amazon.
Tell me about it. The first question I ask is if it's a cordless phone.
If it is I won't go any further and end the deal there.

My ol' man still won't shop online using a CC but he'll happily hand his
card over to a spotty oik in the garage...

  9. By law, they can't debit your CC until they ship. So cancel it.

Cunts. I always feel sorry for the burd who has to answer the phone
because I usually threaten them with legal action.

Todays answer was "it's in stock but not on stock. We'll post it out
    to you today."

What the **** did that mean? I couldn't be arsed with asking her to
clarify what she meant because I got the feeling my name might be
flagged as a trouble maker who's easily baffled by bullshit.

After reading this thread, I regretted ordering my crash bungs last
Wednesday, direct from R&G, and wished I'd got them from a shop instead.
    But then they arrived today.

Strangely, the instructions say "Do not torque above 40 Nm" - but the
engine bolts they replace are listed as 44 Nm in the Kawasaki manual.
Perhaps I'll just set the wrench to 42 and let fate decide which way its
    error margin takes it.

It must just be tail tidies then.

I've found a dealer that stocks them but they want a hefty 50% on top.
Their crash bungs do work, I've tested them.

What about sites that use, for instance, Pay Pal (or another type of
third party payment gateway) which takes payment on the spot?

I'm sure I've had R&B bungs before and they seemed quite good.

As stated elsewhere, it must just be the tail tidy things that have
    issues
