That was informative. Would you care to enlighten us further regarding
anyone who uses ebay being an idiot?

Fleabay has stolen and fraudulent items/services for sale.
By using fleabay you are encouraging fraud, theft and other
    dishonest/illegal activities.
Anyone who encourages dishonest/illegal activities is an idiot.

In general, as soon as a scumbag thief realises they can't sell stolen goods
    they will not steal.
Of course there will always be scumbags who steal and burgle just for the
    sake of it.

Bizarrely, no. Stupidly, they believe justice will do its job,
    eventually.

So it's pretty much the same as any other method of selling goods then,
only accessible to a smaller section of the population.

Point 2 doesn't logically follow from point 1. Some items on eBay are
dishonest, but only by buying those items do you encourage dishonesty.

However I do generally take your point that eBay should do more to police
    their sellers.

Many honest people unknowingly purchase dodgy items/services.
The point being, it is impossible to tell what is legit and what is dodgy
(Biffa, can spot a stolen tin of beans from a mile).
If only that could be done I'm sure fleabay would, however it would be
    impossible.
The whole fleabay concept is flawed, fleabay should be shut down.

Don't be such a dickhead. It's a free world, or hadn't you realised
this. There will always be some country whose laws allow eBay to trade,
so you're fighting a losing battle.

That's cool. I buy bits from 'bike breakers' on ebay so I must be a
    right tosser.
So it'll be a waste of time if I stop using ebay because people will
still be stealing stuff no matter what I do?

I'm moving towards the idea that you been ripped by someone on ebay
and now think that everyone selling on ebay is a thief and everyone
buying from ebay is as stupid as you are.

It's not impossible at all, there are plenty of clues that you're dealing
    with somebody dodgy.

Out of interest, do you have the same view of real-life auction houses, car
boot sales, autojumbles, 2nd hand shops, antique dealers, newspaper
classifieds, Autotrader, Exchange & Mart, postcards in newsagent windows and
    computer fairs?

It's just that all of these things can be used to sell dodgy goods and,
added together, they're probably bigger than eBay - does that mean we should
    get rid of them all?

Perhaps everybody should have to buy everything in big name chain stores.
Look, whatever you think of them calling them "fleabay" every time you refer
to them really does make you sound like a cock.

Newspapers, magazines etc. have a legal responsibility to protect their
readers from dishonest advertisers - eBay, for some reason, doesn't.
