    Hi,

Have you ever wanted to race but not been able to afford it? How about a
full season of racing, including the bike, tyres and entries for just 20
    quid.

Sounds to good to be true? It isn't and www.givemethekeys.com are giving
away just that. More importantly any profits from the competition are
going to support an up and coming young racer with a ride in the
European SuperStock 600 series in 2006 plus a donation to
www.adopt-a-racer.org.uk to help other racers during the year.

I would be very grateful if you could help raise awareness of the
competition to enable us to send 19 year old Matt Bond to race in a
support series to the European World SuperBike rounds next year.

    Who are we helping?
    ------------------

In case you haven't heard of Matt Bond he won the MRO MiniTwins
championship this year after finishing second in the Bemsee MiniTwins in
2004. In addition to 27 race wins and five lap records Matt was awarded
the 'Torquemeter Trophy' for being one of the 'Top Solo Performers' in
the MRO Championship 2005. Previous winners of the trophy include Mike
Hailwood, John Surtees and Terry Rymer.

Matt may only have ridden an SV650 in the MiniTwins series but his lap
record at Cadwell would have put him just outside the top twenty in the
BSB SuperStock Cup race and in the top half of the R6 Cup the following
weekend. He would even have qualified within the 'Qualification Maxima'
for the BSB SuperSport 600 grid with just 72 hp!

    How are we helping him?
    -----------------------

This year www.givemethekeys.com supplied a pair of race prepared Suzuki
SV650s to Matt. For 2006 the team will be buying a pair of new GSXR600K6
machines and ensuring they are prepared to the highest possible
specification to take on the best young riders Europe has to offer.

www.givemethekeys.com will be organising a publicity campaign to make
the most of Matt's appearance at the two UK World SuperBike rounds to
gather support for the talented rider.

    Is he any good?
    ---------------

To promote their involvement in the MiniTwins series the team lent a
race prepared Cagiva Raptor 650 to Mike 'Spike' Edwards (ex-British 600
Champion) to contest a one off round of the MRO MiniTwins series at
    Silverstone earlier this year.

Mike convincingly won two races and was beaten by just 0.006 seconds in
the third. Mike and the team weren't too disheartened as it was Matt
Bond who beat him on the way to taking the lap record. Matt went on to
win the next nine MRO races and also took the lap record at the next
    four circuits he visited.

    What is the competition?
    ------------------------

To celebrate winning the championship www.givemethekeys.com has come up
with a plan to give away the Cagiva Raptor 650 that Mike rode at
Silverstone. Matt also had a one off ride on it at the last Bemsee round
at Brands and finished second in the only race he entered with no time
to practice or adjust the bike to his liking.

As well as the bike www.givemethekeys.com will also be giving away a set
of spare wheels and discs, race entries for one of the MiniTwins series
in 2006 and enough tyres for the season, well, 5 fronts and 10 rears,
plus a pair of wets which should be enough for most riders. The bike is
yours to keep ready for another season in 2007.

Don't want to race in the MiniTwins? Not a problem, sell the bike and
use the entries and tyres for SuperSport 400 or SuperSport 600. It's all
    the same to us.

In addition www.givemethekeys.com will be supporting
www.adopt-a-racer.org.uk with a donation of three thousand pounds to put
towards their 2006 race fund which was set up to support other
struggling racers take part in the sport.

There are just 1000 tickets for the competition priced at 20 pounds
each. You can enter the competition as many times as you want to improve
your chances of winning. See www.givemethekeys.com/minitwins to find out
further information or to enter the competition.

Any profits from the competition will be put towards sending Matt Bond
to race in the European SuperStock 600 series in 2006 which will be run
at all the European rounds of the World SuperBike series and should
provide a fitting environment for the talented youngster.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Mike

I suspect Paul thinks it's the Mike Edwards that demonstrated Pauls
old VTR wasn't all that slow who posted. It wasn't.

Turns out there are a few of us racing. There's a Mike Edwards who races
club level 125GPs, another one who races European SuperMono (amongst
other things) and me, who started the MiniTwins series and sponsors Matt
    Bond.

The quick Mike Edwards (ex-BSB SS600 Champion) did race my MiniTwins
back earlier in the year. Needless to say he a) won and b) confused the
commentators who couldn't work out which one of us it was.

For next year I'm running a team taking a couple of guys to race in the
European SuperStock 600 series. The other Mike Edwards is likely to come
along as well to coach the riders and show them the ropes.

Feel free to enter the competition to give away my MiniTwins race bike
(the one the other Mike Edwards raced and won on) as all the money goes
to supporting the race team for next season.

  5. He got this -> <- close to the lap record at Cartagena on my old VTR.
With seized suspension. This was after saying "That bike's a fucking
death trap." Needless to say, I got the bike sorted soon after.

    ARE YOU LISTENING ZYMURGY?

  6. Say hello to "the other Mike" for me. Tell him to look me up if he's
coming to Spain again. He's probably got one of my email addies somewhere.

  8. If I'd have known, I'd have popped up there (it's about 4 hours from my
house), but as "the weekend" is one day away and I don't seem to have a
tel. number for him, I'll have to leave it til next time. Is he there
testing? I don't see any track days mentioned for this week.

He's there with racedays.net looking after their race school.

If you want an umber for him send me an email and I'll pass it on.

I think they are planning a bit of a party to celebrate New Year.
