It's a large part of it, sure, but you seemed to be arguing some other
    point.

It appeared to me that Molly was (a) making it sound like she was all
girl at birth, minus one little chromosonal issue, and (b) she had
been given a wrongly completed birth certificate.

I was merely pointing out that in the case of (a) there was the small
matter of a knob and bollocks, and given that (b) was not really all
that harsh of the doctor in question.

Sounded to me like she was arguing (a.i) that despite the
aforementioned tackle she was 'really' a girl - a POV supported by the
chromosome evidence but still, IMO, open to debate[1]. I didn't get
your (b) meaning from it at all - quite the opposite, that at that
time there was no other way of knowing, but there is now.

So Mr. Blaney's logic goes, you've got a penis you're male but if you
    haven't you're a female. So having a penectomy and a bi-lateral orchidectomy
changes you from a male to a female? So, from a female's point of view,
does a bi-lateral oophorectomy and a hysterectomy figure. Do we then become
males? Does a mastectomy have the same effect?

It may well be that genetic analysis can reveal the secret but sadly it's
not as simple as that. Speaking as a woman who has had a penectomy,
orchidectomy, oophorectomy and a hysterectomy I can confirm that sexuality
is not very simple and certainly doesn't come down to the crudely put "knob
and bollocks". However, despite some outwardly secondary male traits I had
sufficient going on internally to clinically declare me female, physically,
mentally and functionally. This was sufficient to get my birth certificate
    changed.

I kinda missed you making this point in the earlier post. I know how
much this must mean to you so I'm happy for you.

It's a fair starting point. Particularly if the human being in
question is a matter of hours old, and an essential piece of
    documentation has to be produced.

I really didn't know what I had until they cut me open. Scans and X-Rays
revealed some things but you can't beat having a good eight hour poke around
inside. I simple just had to get on with life. Strangely enough one of the
things I didn't like doing was singing because I was playing in a male band
but had a female voice. Now I love doing gigs.

    There's a simple test.

Any male posters want to admit to being able to spend more than 5
    minutes in 'Lush' without suffocating?

I walked round the corner from Union Sq here in San Fran
and thought "I know that smell..." Yes, the bastards are
here as well. I had to cross the street, as it makes me
    gag from 100 yards.

  11. I have been in one store but I don't think I exceeded 5 minutes. The
shop assistants seemed rather surprised to see me in their store. Make
    of that what you will.
And in Rome and Berlin too. I know exactly what you mean.

They seem to be everywhere according to their website. Is this a
franchise operation - anyone know as their coverage seems amazing?

So do I. You can smell the one in Glasgow for about 100 yards before you
get there. You pass Body Shop to get to it too.

  16. I know not of this 'Lush' of which you write; is it a perfume retailery,
or a purveyor of accoutrements to the hopelessly inebriated?

It's the purveyor of 'American Cream' the one and only conditioner for
helmet hair. And bath ballistics. And other stuff.

I find the smell over powering (does this make me a bloke?) so I buy
online or send some one else in. Daughter wants a Saturday job there
as soon as she's old enough.

  20. 'Gorgeous'. HFM? For 45g of moisturiser? I'm in the wrong business.

Hmm... do you know what I'm left with as an awkward by product of making
biodiesel? Hundreds of litres of glycerine.

    Grimly's Soap Emporium.

It has a certain ring to it.
