    I should fix mine.

I popped a spanner across the poles of the thermistor which screws
directly into the back of the radiator and with a 'pop' the fan set off
happily. So, it isn't the electricals.

I can think of two options, thermistor is buggered and to test this I
need to let all the sugary blue liquids out into a bucket, remove and
then boil the thermistor in hot water to see if the resistance across it
    drops, correct?

The other option is that the pump is knackered and not pushing water
from the block into the radiator. I'm pretty sure that there's fluid in
there because the bike's not blown up and the header tank has fluid
between the expected marker lines. Were it a pump, how can I check if
    it's working or not?

It could be a stuck (closed) thermostat not sending coolant through the rad
even when the engine is hot.

Pretty much all thermostats on modern-ish cars and bikes will fail
open, not closed, to avoid cooking the engine when the thermostat
    fails.

Couldn't you just run the engine until it gets hot and measure it that way?
