Radiator repairs? where in Melb?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Peter Herbison, Nov 10, 2003.

  1. Folks,

Where can I go to get a bike radiator repaired in Melb. I've got a
    1994 CBR600 and the radiator looks like it needs a re-core. It's had a
hard life. If I don't do something I could cook the engine in traffic
    over summer.

Honda want over $800 for a new one!!!

Is there one of those radiator places that does motorbike radiators?
In Melbourne? I cannot be the first to need this done.

    Thanks,

I just want to install an extra auxillary thermo fan on the Blade. It
doesn't seem to cool down very well in traffic when the thermo fan comes on.
I reckon in the middle of summer I'll be parking the thing, especially in
    Brisbane. :(

What temp does your fan kick in? I need to check the one on the ZX6
as I don't think I've ever seen it work, even at 95 degrees.

  5. What temp? Dunno. It kicks in when it's 90% up the temp gauge. Just
SEEMS awefully hot and the weather really hasn't been hot yet.

Only happens in traffic. On the open road the temp guage never gets
    over about 20%.

I've had a couple of water leaks so I suspect the radiator is shot.

No worries, it only kicks in at above 100 degrees. I think about 103 from
memory. If it only ever gets up to 95 then you're lucky! (that was on my
    ZX6R that I just sold)

If it doesn't cool down when the fan comes on, does it at least stop the
temperature rising further? If it does that... is there really a problem?

It kicks in at 100 degrees. I let it idle last night to find out once
and for all if the bloody thing was working or not. Usually I don't
get much above 65 degrees, except for when I'm running on my road
(dirt) then it gets up to 90 or so, but I haven't ridden in temps
higher than about 23 so far, so summer will be interesting.
