    Which, the "trance mix"?

Dark Side is one of those recordings that just should not be fucked
around with. All, of course, in my opinion.

If someone gains enjoyment from *any* kind of music that's cool by me,
it's not like there's a rule that forces everyone to listen to music
    they don't like.

  9. If Pink Floyd had meant it to sound like that, they'd have done it
that way in the first place (or as near as possible given the
limitations of the technology of the day, which didn't seem to hold
them back that much). Perfection cannot be improved upon. Those who
cannot create original music of their own should not have recording
    contracts.

    I dunno so much.
There are quite a few cover versions of popular and well known songs
that I regard as superior to the originals.

  11. Yeah I'd agree with that. Not sure what springs to mind right now, but
certainly Turn the Page by Bob Seger sounds very good when Metallica
give it some oomph. I love both versions tho.

  14. You are joking. Please tell me you're joking.

(The pub we stayed in on Saturday night - the Dog at Dunley, near
    Stourport) has an ace jukebox[1].

I put on Shine On You Crazy Diamond and was delighted to find that it
was, indeed, the full-length version: 12 minutes, or something.

[1] As in "lots of decent stuff from before you young whippersnappers
were born, in the age when they had proper tunes"[2]
    [2] I still like Eminem, though[3]
[3] Quite the most talented lyricist I've heard in years. He turns
language inside out, into a sort of spoken Moebius strip.

  15. Agreed.

"Without You" (Bo Nilsson, for example)

Same goes for films - every now and again, a remake is better than the
original. Not often, mind. The Maltese Falcon (with Bogart) and Destry
    Rides Again were both remakes.

OH, it's not as bad as that - there's nothing wrong with the 'blade,
but I'm not keen on taking it into town now that it's only insured

And our car works fine, too.

  18. 12 minutes? *Twelve* minutes?

I have track intros that last longer than that..
Ah.. Canterbury Prog. Good stuff indeed.
Strangely enough so do I. And Coolio.

    How bizarre.
