    Hi All

Someone recommender that RainX was very good for keeping visors clear of
that horrible light rain, however, I can only find RainX for car windscreens
and am a bit dubious about using it on a plastic visor in case it melts it
    or something.

Anyone got any experience of using this stuff, or if there is a particular
one for visors? Cane you're into all things plastic/acrylic/rubber/latex
    aren't you... any info?

    TIA, David

I use it all the time on my visor and I've never had a problem. Don't
expect miracles, though - it doesn't work as well as on a car
    windscreen, dunno why.

The majority of visors are made from polycarbonate which despite it's
impact strength is very easy to scratch. It's chemical resistance on
the other hand is good so I doubt very much that Rainx would melt it.
The worst would be a white, milky discolouration after continued use.

My advice would be to wipe the rain off with your hand you poof.

  4. It doesn't - I use it all the time. Inside and out - on the inside it
    stops the visor misting up.

I used to use it myself until I discovered somewhere that the chemicals in
rainx are designed for glass and can cause micro fractures in plastics. I
haven't used it since. I bought one of those finger wiper thingies.

It's never melted any of mine, but there IS supposed to be a "plastic
    specific" one.
I even use it on my plastic lensed glasses if that's any help.

  8. I once bought some Holts stuff specifically for visors - inside & out.
It was kak, I returned it as it didn't do what it said on the tin.

Now I use washing up liquid on the inside and furniture polish on the
outside (a copper recommended the latter).

I'm a school caretaker and use the cleaners dusters (that they use with
furniture polish) to clean my specs, visors, car wing mirrors etc etc. It's
    bloody good .. ;)

I tried it years ago on a Shoei visor and it made whatever the visor was
coated with go streaky. It was unusable in sunlight.
As others have said, use a V-wipe or just turn your head to the side if
you are going fast enough to displace the water.

Mr Sheene's hard to beat. I even seen Joey Dunlop's guys using this on
his visor and screen at a road race. The performance of rainx and any
other polish has a lot to do with your screen shape. My bubble screen
(Fazer) prevents the wind from clearing the rain off my visor, but
with OE screen it just blew the rain away.
