Well, turned out to be a rainy Sunday after all. I thought it was going to be clear, but no biggie. I had a bit of a hangover this morning anyway and would not have been sharp. ;-) Went to the Grape Fest in Grapevine last night. Weather was gorgeous. Saw plenty of bikes on the way in and spent most of our time at the biker bar, there. T'was packed. Hope everyone else had a good weekend. --Fullstate
I just got back from 8 days business in washington dc, they are definately fair weather riders up there. it was overcast and rained on and off and I never saw a single bike till the last day when it cleared up and the jap bikes and harleys came out. Glad to be back in texas.
I guess you could say I am a fair weather rider. I WILL ride in the rain (just ask Bling! or Bill), but I prefer not to. I don't have any good rain gear and don't really plan on buying any. I got a cage for that. ;-) --Fullstate
I said exactly the same thing a while ago. But I have to admit, I was wrong. Riding in the rain, prepared wisely, is a whole different kind of fun. I think I got even more "thumbs up" from cagers when doing it, too. And good rain gear will keep you bone dry.
Yeah, I hear that. I been soaked a few times being caught out in the rain. Damned near froze my ass off in NM while climbing into the mountains. I'll stick to my mostly dry weather, thank you! lol --Fullstate
I actually said a number of other things about motorcycling that I ended up doing a 180 on. I used to think I'd never use my windshield, so a detachable one would do me just fine. I figured I'd just leave it in a closet. Couldn't have been more wrong. I'm ride a lot at freeway speeds and it really makes a difference fatigue-wise. I also said that I prefer the clean lines of an unencumbered rear render, so I would probably end up leaving my bags right along side of the windshield as well. Again I was mistaken. The bags are just too damned handy for carrying stuff home from a store. I also always carry raingear along with me in them, too. Just goes to show ya, I don't know what the hell I am talking about.
Windshield and bags have always been required on my bikes... Course, I rode the touring bikes for many years.. When I decided to go for the cruisers, I still wanted the shield, bags and floorboards.. I have everything but the sound system on my Vulcan... Slows me down just a tad, but, I compensate with my excellent riding skills and expertise in bike handling.... LOL... Let's go for a ride, Waco... You, me, Bling and Fullstate... How about it ?? Your friend in Irving Bill Walker
Yeah. How do you feel about my Lipan plan to make a day of it going up FM 4? Sat, Oct 18th? Or perhaps somewhere else this Sat?
Well you guys are more than welcome on that weekend, but I can't make it. I already have plans. But I might be able to do this Sat. or something. --Fullstate
