RatTig First Ride

For various reasons I hadn't gotten around to riding the RatTig since
its make-over - until tonight. I knew I'd shed a fair bit of weight
from it, but ****! It feels more like an XR400 now than the 215Kg (dry)
    behemoth it started out as.

The handling is far more 'interesting' than it used to be, partly
because of the knobbly tyres & partly because the suspension is now
wildly out of balance, most of the weight having come off the front
end. The forks are rock solid & the (somewhat knackered) shock is as
soft as it always was. The result feels like what I can only describe
    as understeer - most strange.

I suppose it was inevitable that I'd forget to replace at least one
bolt after such major surgery. I just wish it hadn't been the one at
the top of the rear brake pedal bracket. This, combined with forgetting
to pump up the front brakes after changing the pads, has left me with
    some underwear washing to do.

All being well it'll get its inaugural Salisbury Plain outing at the
weekend, where I'll attempt to break my off-roading speed record
(currently 118mph on the pre-modded Tig).

The legal parts of the Plain are definitely more suited to fast bikes.
There's some good slightly-less-than-legal bits you'd probably enjoy
    though.

I've not ventured out onto the Plain on the CRF yet, as it's a little bit of
a hike for me, now I'm living the other side of the A30 rather than in
Amesburg. Will do at some point, no doubt - mind you, it's lucky if it'll
do 60mph downhill with a tailwind.
