Well, I was going to go to this, as a birthday present to myself.

And then I saw the cost of the tickets: £70!

    I'll watch it on TV.

Thought it had been cancelled[1]? Or is that just next years series?

I went last year, had grandstand seats. It was alright, a pleasant
enough way to spend a warm summer's evening, but gets a bit samey after
    the first 20 minutes.

If I got free tickets, I probably still wouldn't bother going again.

    Stupid, that's the air race.

70 quid is an awful lot, makes the 45 quid for a days cricket at Trent
Bridge last Saturday look a bargain.

and the whole spectacle gets more than a little boring, on TV at least.
Eventually one amazing jump is much like another, the pool of competitors is
rather small and the judging reminds me of WWF.

Last year there were two lads in the row in front of me, yanks or
canucks, whatever, a-whoopin' an' a-hollerin', air punching, the whole
    shebang.

Until the built-like-a-brick-shitter bloke next to them told them in no
uncertain terms that it would be wise for them to sit down, shut up and
    enjoy the show quietly.

So they did. And lo, we did see that it was good.

What did he expect? It's the Red Bull X-fighters, not the RAH, FFS.
