My day has started well :)

First my insurance renewal arrived, £122 fully comp, £60 less than last
    year. Yesssss!

Then I was booked in at NE Motorcycles for the MOT, and she passed
without a hitch. Not bad considering I've hardly done a thing to it in
    over a year.

    Me's a happy chappy today.

    Good for you.

I must be using the wrong insurance company I pay lots more than that,
or maybe I'm just a bad risk. Who's your company, must give them a
    bell.

I've just renewed on the VFR for well over £100 less than last year -
and this was with 3 extra points, too.

    £248FC. I'm happy with that.

Unfortunately, the extra 3 points mean I'm going to be caned on my cage
    insurance. Bastards.

    Not bad.
Fucking hell, that's more than our cage is with two claims in a year
    (both not our fault though)!
    You can always change it!

Heh. I think it's quite good - looking at the value of the bike and the
cost of repairs even in a minor spill.
I've tried shopping around - my renewal is nearly 600 quid, cheapest
I've found so far is £400.

Katie insures the 156 for £280, ffs!

And of course you're younger than me ;-)

Mind you, last year was the first FC I had, and that was only £160.

    Aye, you old bastard ;-)
Thing is, your FJ is older, cheaper and has less plastic than a VFR800.
I nearly fell off my chair when confused.com came back with that. And
that's with me as named driver.

That's true I guess. Then again, Yamaha bikes do seem to be more cheaply
    made than Hondas!

Confused is a damned good site, I used it to get a list of cheaper
quotes, and then I went directly to a select few based on my experience
of dealing with them at work.

I only pay 75 quid more to insure a GSXR1000 FC.

Strangely, a 9R is cheaper to insure than the VFR. I put it down to the
    cost of Honda plastics.

I put it down to the fact that mainly blind gimmers buy VFRs, YMMV
    though.

They diagnosed my eyesight problem. Once they'd rectified it I traded up
from a VFR750K through other bikes to a much better sports tourer called
a ZX9-R, and then crosssed to the dark side and bought a Gixer Thou.
