    do ?

The most important thing to remember is "Do you look cool"

I'd rather be hit by a truck than look like a manual labourer on
    motorway maintenance.

Anyone got an opinion on which hi-viz item is best... waistcoat, sash or H
belt, was gonna get the waistcoat but not so sure now, seems to have a
    learner look about it.

Also anyone delt with this company:

    http://www.marketsquare.co.uk/ilfracombe/glomarka.htm

    Are they ok?

Or is the general opinion here that fate will out no matter waht you do ?

I wear waistcoat stylee. Number of cars pulling out on me have
dramatically dropped since I started wearing it. It doesn't mean they
*won't* pull out on you, but it'll reduce the odds.

    Your call.

Hmmm... of course your right, maybe I put the money towards some "hard
    bastard" gloves instead :)

I visited a company that made nice hi-vis bomber style waterproof jackets.
village just south of Nottingham on the A453 or A52. Can't remember the
    name, anyone know them?

Exactly. Middle of a village on the right hand side driving east. Wasn't
    that far from the M1.

Think there is a theme developing here, along the lines of; if they don't
see me they will certainly feel me.

Seriously, I can't stand those reflective waistcoats and sashes. If
you're after some high visibility gear buy a good weatherproof jacket
that incorporates the reflective bits in it. Otherwise you've just go
    more gear to cart around.

Waistcoats and such will flap like buggery and piss you off.

Some of the modern ones[1] have newfangled "zips" fitted to stop this.

    [1] i.e. those made since c.1980

    You are getting the idea.

Don't forget though it is not all about you, there are many things you
can do to improve your bike. Medium grade waterproof Emery cloth
wrapped around the engine bars is a useful and satisfyingly low cost
    addition to standard equipment.
