Details are sketchy but it looks like Regis Laconi may have broken his neck
after crashing in first practice at Kyalami.
    Poor bugger.
    Lets hope it's an overexaggeration..

    Q. What feat have only Laconi, Marco Lucchinelli, Mick Doohan, Kevin Magee,
John Kocinski, Makato Tamada, Garry McCoy, Chris Vermulen and Troy Bayliss
    achieved?

Bonus Q. Why are Doohan, Tamada, Vermulen and Bayliss different from the
    rest?

Bonus bonus Q. Why isn't Darryl Beattie on the list?

  3. Looking back in retrospect he might do that.

I'm trying to think of something cleverly witty, but my mind's gone
    blankly empty.

    From the supers web page

Laconi suffered two broken cervical vertebrae (C3 and C5), severe concussion
and a contusion of the lung. A CT scan for eventual neurological damage,
proved to be negative and for the moment he is in an induced coma and in a
    stable condition.

    A. They've all won at least one race in both World Superbikes and
    premier class Grand Prix (500cc/MotoGP).

Bonus A. Their Grand Prix wins came after their WSBK victories.

Bonus bonus A. I'm guessing Beattie never won a World Supers race?
Either that,or the list only includes riders with more than five
    toes...

    Very good Pat.
Beattie DID take the chequered flag in a World Supers race (Phillip Island
1990) but was subsequently disqualified after post-race scrutineering found
    the RC30 underweight.
I also forgot Nicky Hayden who also belonged in the Bonus A group.

I wonder if Darryl Beattie has flashbacks to his accident during his
MotoGP commentary whenever he sees Toes land...
