Rego

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Farque Khantz, Mar 29, 2005.

  1. Fark, got my VicRoads rego renewal for my bike in the mail today.

    Registration Fee: $32.10
    TAC Premium: $405.00
    Insurance Duty: $40.50

    Total $477.60

Plus a glossy with a title of "How the $50 levy is used to _improve_ rider safety"

Short answer = the money was spent on more speed cameras and what was left over was used to send out glossies telling us what they spent it on.

Who lives in QLD? What's the rego like up there?

I recently registered my BMW R100GSPD for about $200 for the year (single
    seat rego).

50 dollars towards a prositiute sure saves a toss in the long run

Well, I'm just saying what's in the glossy. Of course there are other things, but cameras and campaigns are in there too.

Oh BTW, the Blackspur wasn't among those roads funded - the glossy lists all those that were/are (still ongoing). The Blackspur must have been a locally funded thing.

Yeah, mines a solo too. Damn, that's less than half of what I pay.

The levy has bought a lot more speed cameras here around Brisbane. It seems
like they have doubled in the last 6 months...
rego is about $470 for my bike... 1985 model gpz900r
The bloody bike is worth nothing without the rego.
If I had to trade it in , I would get $600 tops. Too old they say.
I only speed on open roads when the cops aren't looking.
Coppers only break the law when other cops aren't watching.

Maybe they just used the stock standard signs already produced for road improvements, you know like the 3 x 3 (3% for 3 years) signs you used to see everywhere even though they weren't _really_ using the 3%.

  10. Nothing wrong with prositiute's mate. The cynics who claim there's nothing
wrong with paying off a full house for half access may disagree but the
gumbyment and leeching suckers have got them fucked!

I'd be happy with paying $100 per year if it meant that every year I could attend a 2 day free advanced riding course at a track somewhere.

In truth, I'd be even more happier if I could pay for rego over the entire year (ie. fortnightly allotment of $20) instead of a damn lump sum that you have to come up with in less than 6 weeks because as Murphy's Law has it, it's never just the bike that needs rego'ing, it's also the damn car as well.

What a waste. Better roads will only make motorcyclists go faster, and
'safety' clothing makes them feel safer, so they go faster still.

I don't think the improvements on the Black Spur road have anything to do with
motorcycling safety. There have been dozens of serious injuries and
fatalities on that road over the years and very few improvements have been
made. The recent upgrade came almost immediately after the two ambulance
officers died when they drove their ambulance off that road and into a tree
while rushing to attend a car accident. I don't think the timing was a
    coincidence.

They drove the ambulance off the road into a tree on January 2 2004 and the
roadworks commenced approximately 4 weeks later.

LOL. Yeah would be great if I could remember to do it every fortnight but I'm getting old. As for the car, if I got rid of it the missus wouldn't have anything to drive then she would be bugging me or worse still, wanting to use my bike.

Yeah, they normally send you the renewal about 6-8 weeks prior to the due date. I suppose that's something.
