Looks more like just a self-evident truth...
Fixed that one for ya, too.

  2. You're suggesting that importance can't be inherited ?
That a twit with a pedigree is still remembered as a twit ?
Or not remembered at all if there's no estate to back the
pedigree ? Gosh, perhaps you're right.

Didn't that work for the Jacobites?

It has worked for English nobility for a thousand years, viz. the
houses of Normandy, Plantagenet, Tudor, Stuart, Orange, Hanover, Gotha
    Saxe-Coburg (Windsor).

Elizabeth II *is* the richest woman in the world, and she has remained
famous without ever getting a tattoo or shaving her head or flashing
    her vagina in public.

It has worked in America, with the houses of Adams, Roosevelt,
    Kennedy, Bush.
W's twitness certainly surpasses his predigree, but he will be in the
    history
books, while the Kleinschmidts will not.
The decline of mercantile imperialism and the rise of wealth-
redistributing populist governments has put certainly pressure on
European nobility whose wealth depended on the exploitation of third
    world peasants.

However, successful Canadian and American entrepreneurs still visit
England hoping to unearth an extinct title that they can purchase for
    a few thousand pounds.

  5. You figure you're nobility ? The rightful Duke of Rhode
Island or something ? How's that working for you ?

Pedigrees are for poodles. Anyone with a shred of character
or integrity asks to be judged on their own merits.
While others seek to find in their family tree the
glory and distinction that they have never earned
    honestly on their own.

At last, some family that still seems to be around in a position of
wealth on some power (not a lot, but some).
The very thought of it puts me off my lunch.
Who? A bunch of nobodies and johnny-come-latelies.

  8. That question does not logically follow the reply to your previous
    question.

When did I ever say that I was "the rightful Duke of Rhode Island"?

Rhode Island never had any dukes, but Maryland did.(1)

OTOH, my ancestors *did* hold a royal charter to govern Rhode Island
    and Providence Plantations in perpetuity.

When I speak of what happened in Rhode Island in 1842, I am talking
    about the
innate weakness of democracy based upon universal suffrage granted to
    persons without character or substance.

The Irish factory workers rebelled and forced Rhode Island to adopt
two new constitutions because they thought they should get citizenship
(and franchise) after being in the state for a few years.

But the Irish did not wind up controlling the whole state, because
    they were
*still* dead broke immigrants, relying upon our family industries for
    their sustenance.
That doesn't work anymore. A Nigger or Mexican can easily get a
    bachelor's degree with a "C" average and that's his ticket into a
sinecure in a bureaucracy. Just look at what goes on in any civil
    service organization
When did I ever claim glory or distinction for myself? I'm trying to
illustrate points of history, as illustrated by my own relatives'
    experience.

Just read a James Michener novel, and you can see where he illustrated
    history
    with fictional characters.

The difference between Michener and me is that my relatives were not
    fictional.

    (1) Did I ever mention that I'm related to John Calvert, Lord
Baltimore, by the marriage of a great aunt?

Some of Calvert's descendants sought their fortune in the Dakota
    Territory in the
    1880's.

Does that make *me* the Duke of Baltimore?

The evidence we have here would certainly indicate that
    it can't.

Define "worked." If by that word, you mean you wind up
with a bunch of overly-inbred idiots (many of whom wind
up needing to be kept out of sight of the public) as the
figureheads you present to the world as your "heads of
state" and "nobility," then yeah, I guess. Otherwise, no,
    not so much.
So what? What, exactly, does she bring that is of *inherent*
value? She has been trained from birth to be precisely what
she is - apart from that, there is exactly zero evidence that
she has inherited any characteristic which makes her of
more real value than any of her maids.

Krusty is "nobility" of precisely the same sort as the
Duke and the King of Twain's classic "Huckleberry
    Finn."

ya'll a bunch of clueless trolls, here's the correct dissection:

Level 1 The Commonwealth of Nations
has plus 50 member states, like NewZealand, Australia, United Kingdom,
Canada, etc, basically any place where parts that Echelon surveillance
System is located, and umm.. developing countries like Malawi, Nigeria etc..

    Level 2 United Kingdom
is composed of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
a.k.a. Teyrnas Unedig Prydain Fawr a Gogledd Iwerddon
a.k.a. An Rìoghachd Aonaichte na Breatainn Mhòr agus Eirinn a Tuath
a.k.a. Ríocht Aontaithe na Breataine Móire agus Thuaisceart Éireann
a.k.a. An Ruwvaneth Unys a Vreten Veur hag Iwerdhon Gledh
a.k.a. Unitit Kinrick o Great Breetain an Northren Ireland

    Level 3 Great Britain
consists of England , Scotland and Wales.

    and that's it.

OK, now let's substitute "real value" for "importance" in the
above, and see how it plays then...

    How nice.

No part of southern California sits between Africa and Europe, but we
nonetheless have what's called a "Mediterranean" climate.

FREEZING? Looks like temps around Florida today will
be in the mid-to-upper 60s, with low to mid 70s on tap
for the next few days. It's 23 degrees here as I write this
(coming up on 1 PM) - wanna trade?

I won't bother asking what you think "global warming" has
to do with local short-term temps, though...

Much of California actually has a *semi-Mediterranean* climate. If you
ever visit Crete or Rhodes or Greece or Turkey during the summer, you
will appreciate the Catalina eddy and on shore flow that keeps the
more habitable parts of California livable.
