  3. A while back he advised people to tip Greek lavatory attendants a few
lire, which really made me laugh.

You made that up. That's NOT what I said.

But there was an older Greek woman in a booth at the entrance to
    the lavatories below the Acropolis.

Lavatory users had to pay her 20 or 40 lepta to use the facilities.

In Italy, the female restroom attendants expected to be tipped 200
lira, which was about $0.05 USD, and American tourists did not
    understand the
    custom, leading to embarrassment.

There was a glass door separating the men's room at an Italian truck
stop from the anteroom where women were waiting in line to get into
    the ladies room.

The women were amused to watch their husbands standing at the urinals,
    in plain view...

I stopped in a street cafe in Vollendam, NL, (a tourist trap) to buy a
soda. I walked up to the counter and ordered the drink and the woman
behind the counter rudely said, "Take it and go."

I stopped to use the restroom, and there was a can with a message
requesting that restroom users deposit a guilder for the privilege.

But why was the counter person so rude?

Americans expect to purchase their fast food or soft drink at the
counter and then go find a table and sit down.

When Europeans sit down to lunch in a cafe, they often expect to stay
    for an hour or two.

European cafe owners expect people to tip a waiter, so they don't want
Americans to sit down, even when the cafe is otherwise empty.

There will be standup tables in European cafes where patrons can stand
and drink their coffee and eat a pastry and leave immediately.

I have seen such standup tables in American cafes and fast food
    restaurants.

Americans usually do not use them.

One of the most ridiculous situations was in Madrid, where the
Spaniards just don't understand the concept of fast food at McDonalds.

The Spaniards would come into the restaurant and stake out a table
    before
ordering their food instead of going straight to the counter and
    ordering first.

I found every table was either occupied, or had a bunch of coats and
packages on the table, reserving it according to the Spanish custom.

I wound up placing my tray on top of a plastic trash can and standing
    there to eat my burger.

I also ate lunch at a cafeteria in Madrid, and there was a security
guard there whose job included telling Spaniards that it was time to
leave, they were holding up people who wanted the tables.

Spaniards thought that was really rude...

  5. No, I didn't.
    Yes, it is.

The laugh is that you wouldn't tip a Greek lavatory attendant in lire.
    Nor an Italian, either.

    Your call, Richard Burton.

  6. When we were in the Valley of the Kings this summer, our guide told us
    to avoid it.

"All the tourists want to see it, so they can say they've been there,"
he said. "But it really isn't the best tomb in the Valley."

    Honest truth.

What, are you going to impeach the veracity of my testimony as a

  16. Not while you continue trying to convince people that what you post is
    true and accurate, no.

You stop lying, stop posting complete bollocks, and stop posting wild
mechanical fantasies, and I won't have to contradict them.

    There:))

Why do you feel that it's your "duty" to follow other users from group
to group and thread to thread to contradict them?

If I stop trying to help people, you'll just find another victim to
    stalk.

  18. I don't. I just like winding up mentally unstable, obsessive,
unpleasant, lying little obscenities like you.
How does posting stuff that is positively harmful to them help them?
