I know i didn't take heed, but mate, do NOT buy a new one. Great rides
as they are, the reliability is utterly mongtastic.

I am listening brother Nige. If I do ever get a new bike it's more
likely to be another Triumph, perhaps a ST 1050.

Whitby? I haven't been there for ages. Have a large fish & chips while
    you're there.

At 8am!!! Might be a tad early, but I'll at least have a double sausage
& egg sarnie! If Brunstrom is watching, yes, some speed limits may
broken in the pursuit of double sausage & eggs......

Just had a look at the KTM site, the seats look like razors. Might just
get a transalp or africa twin.

And where would you get this idea from?

That's not the point - on the 1150 Adventure you couldn't get the ABS
without the servo brakes. So even if you switch off the ABS, you still
have servo brakes. And the servo brakes on these can be a tad
    problematic.

Like - according to the Swiss mechanic I talked to when my rear servo
switched itself off while going downhill from the village my mum lives
in - when the brake light bulb blows for example.

I think the servo brakes are an unnecessary complication, they're
computer controlled to boot and I've got firsthand experience of their
failure mode (turn the servo off). The mechanic who checked out the
failure mentioned that they're always getting them in in the summer due
to the servos switching themselves off which makes riding over passes
    interesting.

I did like my GSA, but in the end it was too expensive for a bike that
you really only could own during the warranty period if you do the kind
of miles I do. They still haven't sorted out the finish issues and they
don't seem to be targetting the high-mileage crowd any more, at least
    not like they used to.

I have a KTM Duke-II and all I can add is that "alternative seats are
    available".

That's why I sold my GSA and bought the K1100LT in my sig instead. As
my tame BMW nutter puts it, as long as it'll get maintained
    properly[1], it's pretty much indestructible.

[1] His idea of proper maintenance differs slightly from your average
    BMW spanner monkey's idea, though.

I didnt even get any, what a shit day.

Leathers are a fucking pain. I'm 6' 3" relativly slim downstairs, but
fairly big upstairs with long arms. 36" waist & 46-48" chest. No-one
makes owt i can wear really. I'm not into poweranger wankwear, just
plain black will do. HG have some nice stuff, but they dont have any
fucking stock. The arms are too short too.

Mate of mine has a 950 Adventure that's pretty much his only transport
and he's mentioned a few times that it's rather comfy.
