Well, the dead Kawasaki GT750 that Statto left behind yesterday now runs
and moves under its own power. The Turbo's battery, bit of petrol out of
the Guzzi and it started first go.

The completely flat tyre and no front callipers made for short test run.

That and one of the header pipes isn't connected.

So, does anyone have a clampy thing that presses the collets into the
head and hold the header pipe in place knocking about?

I have no idea of its proper name - three holes, one for the pipe two for
the studs. The original one broke whilst being persuaded.

 

Size? I've got one of a K100. Could check if it's the same size as the
Z500 I suppose.

Well, I could if I could be arsed. Enough prevarication, got to go on a
nine mile run.

He means "exhaust collar".

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that bike has a full Motad system on it,
standard Kawasaki exhaust collars won't fit. You need a Motad one if
that's the case.

 

Oh, you're quite right about the Motad but the collars look the same as
the ones on the Turbo. Not that I've measured them, just looked.

I have a scrap GS550 with a Motad system and the collars on that seem to
be the original Suzuki ones (I looked earlier today).

Look for exhaust collar on ebay and you'll see almost exclusively the items
we've been discussing. Look for exhaust clamp, you'll see mostly gubile
clips and u-bolt arrangements. Kawasaki are Japanese, and can't be expected
to know the correct term in English.
