    I thought it was traditional to measure noise levels at 1m distance. As
    sound decreases with the square of the distance, yours could be almost
    twice as loud as you've measured.

  6. A trick used by some horn manufacturers is to quote the dbA at 1' from
    the horn instead of 1m.
