Reparing Leather

My leathers have been scuffed to buggery along the road, and was wondering
whether anyone has tried repairing their jacket after such an incident. The
glossy surface of the leather has all been worn away and it's been left
looking more like suede. Again, any help greatly appreciated.

While I'm at it (and to get all the potential 'request' threads out of the
way), can anyone recommend a good lid for no more than £250? If I get a few
recommendations, then I'll try to get to Fowlers and try them on. I can't
afford another Arai Astro, although it was the most comfy lid that I've ever
    worn.

That's what leather looks like when you scrap away the poncy "power ranger"
paint jobs. I can't see there's really a need unless it's holed, split or
    seriously thinned.
Go for the basic Arai, around 180UKp or less. Some people seem to find a
certain brand fits best, so stick with 'em.

Check out this month's Ride magazine. There's a best-of pullout in loads
of different categories. Quite liked the sound of the Roof Daytona.

Unfortunately the only way to repair scuffed panels is to replace them
    with new leather

Use that "scuff" boot polish. It will hide the marks.

  9. You've lost the topfinish - which you cannot put back as effectively
as the tannery sprayed or "hand-padded" it in the first place - and
exposed the corium. I have seen examples of what happens when people
try to use a proprietory leather paint on their scuffed jacket, and it
    fools no one. Sorry.

Assuming there are no deep cuts in the damaged area, the leather
should still be O.K.for continued use, but if the road surface has cut
into the leather to any significant extent, I suggest you get the
    damaged panel(s) replaced.

BTW, you didn't say if the cause was a SMIDSY scenario- in which case
the third party's insurers should be paying for repair/replacement. I
am sure there is someone round here who can provide a suitable "expert
    opinion" for this purpose... ;-)
