I asked if the seller could email me the frame and/or engine number of his
bike (selling with no V5). His reply:

"canot pal duw 2 socraty reasons the winning bider wil be given a writen
resite with all numbers adress esectra fanks"

    <speechless>

Jeez .... presumably they walk by falling forwards and moving legs to
    stop their heads hitting dirt.

The dragging knuckles stop 'em falling sideways or backwards.

  6. I was selling a bike and a guy texted me about it. I texted him back
answering his question and asked him to call me if there was any other
questions. He texted me back asking more questions. Gobsmacked I kept
texting him back to see how many texts he would do. Answer was over 20.
Why the dopey prick didn't just pick up the phone was beyond me. All
his texts were like the email above. Barely legible. My six year old
could of spelt better. Suffice to say he was a total time waster and
his last text was along the lines of he didn't have the cash.

I get really hacked off when someone on eBay wants me to phone them.

If someone wants me to buy something on the basis of a written description,
when my only route for recompense of I'm not happy is if I can demonstrate
that it does not match that description, then I think it's reasonable that
any information provided that I use to inform my buying decision be in a
    written manner.

No really. From his history, he's previously bought/sold other trail bikes
for £350-500+ fairly recently. If he were a pikey, he'd not have paid for
    them surely?

    Seems a real knob.

I take it, it's a field bike then!

He only has 4 feedback himself, yet he is stopping people with less than
10 feedback!! as he's been messed about.....
    maybe 4 times?

    No, "Location : Coalville"

Until 20 years ago, it was a little remote island in Leics. Coal and
quarry town. Insular people, who were 10-15 years behind everyone else.
I went to see a band there in 85, and couldnt believe that people were
still wearing flares, along with their NCB donkey jackets - everyone
else in the Country had ditched flares 5 years previously.
The local Woolworths got an automatic door fitted, people stood outside
    watching this piece of magic.

It has improved a little since, but is still pretty dire.

  15. So have a quick chat on the phone, then have the seller follow up in
writing if you wish to proceed. Not difficult really.

Ebay does try and discourage serial messaging on their contact
service, presumably because they reckon people are negotiating to deal
off-eBay. They seem to cut the service off after three or four
messages in a certain period of time.

I think they may also have a bot that detects people passing their
email addies around - looks for an @ symbol or something. I tell
people to email me at chateau dot murray at idnet dot com and take it
    from there.
