Been lurking here for a while, thought I'd better introduce self. Hi. "Gave up" bikes ten years ago (medical reasons) but have just climbed back in the saddle with an XT660R. Loving being back on two wheels, although I'm wondering why no bugger waves to me any more. There have been a lot of changes since I was last razzing around, so here's a starter question: Can front-facing cameras (ie scamera vans and the like) snap bikes? I assume bikes are just as liable to be Gatso'd as cars are, but logic says the Talevan-type cameras can't read a bike's front number plate cos there isn't one. There are no Gatsos near me, but plenty of places Plod likes to wait in his white van, and it would be nice to know for sure. This month's Superbike mag calls front-facing cameras "speed as much as you like" signs, but a few more seasoned opinions wouldn't go amiss. Sorry if this has been done to death. Cheers all. -- Rich ============================== 2001 Disco II ES auto 1971 S2a 88" petrol 2005 XT660R Take out the obvious to email me.
Hello. It's traditional to tell you to **** off but you've bought a sensible bike, so I'll give you a chance Plenty of buggers around here who might wave to you under, or over, certain circumstances Depends. If it is an unmanned static job like what they have in my son's area, Portsmouth, then ignore the things. With the manned jobs, beware. They can take a photo of you speeding towards them and, using a fantastic piece of technology commonly called a pencil, jot down your number plate, time, brief description etc as you pass them. Allegedly admissible as evidence. They could even have a 2nd camera mounted in the front of the van that could be synchronised to the radar device.
You really do have a problem with intelligent women don't you? Can your mum shed any light on this if she's still lurking?
Rich B wrote I do hope you have been pending a part of your time fucked off and reading the ffaq, if not you had better **** off now. Not this early in the morning (usually) but today I could easily be persuaded. Two reasons and the second has nothing to do with the bike you ride. You assume wrong Sir. We are bikers and we are law abiding and we are proud of it, we are not a bunch of lawless hooligans. I ask you to withdraw your vile assertions forthwith of face the wrath of my lawyers.
Work in progress wrote Intelligent wimmin? I spose now the thread will peter out in that pointless old discussion of how you can possibly assess intelligence in any meaningful way when dealing with subspecies.
That dear old chap, Work tugged on his pipefull of old shag and said: He's always OK with you... Oh - As you were.
Welcome. Nice bike. I generally treat forward-facing cameras as an inducement to open the throttle wider, on the basis that it will annoy one of the little Hitlers whose job it is to punish such miscreants. I'm pleased to say that the forward-facing camera on the A21, southbound, just before the Tun Wells exit, has a trigger speed of 100mph+. Somewhere, there's a nice collection of pix of someone giving it the finger. <Thinks> There are some fairly distinctive stickers on the front of the Ducati, actually. I ought to take them off.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good fishing attempt. What ever happened to the mad scottish one who posted here when they split?
Can you quantify exactly what Ali has done to incur your ire? And aren't you meant to be at the airport?
Breast size, otoh, is absolutely crucial. She fucked off back to jockland. Beyond that, I have no idea, and no desire to find out.)
