    Hmm perhaps the technology does hold a lot of risk for motorists and
    freedom.

    I can imagine a system where the motorcycle rider has to carry a card,
    not have it in the number plate. Enter stage left motorway/major road
    toll booths. Double barriers. Ride past the first and it "traps" you.
    Wait for the second barrier to go up before you can ride off. Each time
    your speed over a section, insurance, MOT and tax records are checked.

    You cunts better hope I never become Chief Technologist for the DOT.

    I thought they'd abandoned this idea, after someone pointed out that
    it made it easier for a ne'er-do-well to couple an RFID reader to a
    bomb, and produce a weapon that was deliberately targeted at US
    passport holders....
