Well, my Ebay purchase is looking up!

Got everything working this morning and took her for MOT - passed with
flying colours! Mechanic passed verdict that she looked a good'un
mechanically and with a bit of TLC she'd be a peach.

Although on the way to the MOT she started running on only two - after some
fiddling it became apparent that DPO (Dreaded Previous Owner ;o) had not
only lost the main fuse but had routed the fuel pipes incorrectly! Doesn't
run well as a tandem twin.... ;o)

Anyways - haven't given her full beans yeat - although she's really smooth
when she comes 'on cam' (yeah - I know - but you know what I mean!)

After all the interest at the bike shop, the young lad in the petrol station
(18 ish) said 'what the bl**dy 'ells that mate?' He was really impressed
(even though the bike must almost be as old as him) - do Gammas normally
draw a lot of attention? Having said that - it's prolly like my Duke 851 -
always draws a crowd at the Ducati dealer - dispite rows of 916/996/999s. I
guess it's good to be different - but riding the RG today - did feel like I
was riding a bit of motorcycle history...

As this will be a rolling restoration - prolly to absolutely original
condition - I'll be doing some debug rides over the next few weeks - must
warn the local petrol station to stock up ;o)

Sure feels light and flickable comparared to some of my other machines...

Hmm, ISTR you are possibly part of the Oxford-isti [1]

If this is the case, do you intend to take the beast to either Cassington or
    Ludgershall?

[1] I may be wrong, if so blame the Alzheimers

Erm - have been led to believe over 30mpg - *if* I take it really easy.
Mechanic from MOT today said he used to get high teens on one he had for a
    few weeks...

Still - it's *only* money - just watch out for the hole in the ozone layer
    right above my garage! ;o)
Picked that up from the various Lotus groups I've been known to hang out
    on - it's a *very* common comment! ;o)

You'll not be wrong there - just bordering on the Gloucester-isti [1a]
Dunno yet - depends on what I'm up to with work - and whether I've got as
far as trusting the Gamma to go that distance without exploding! ;o)

Hmmm... and another thing - I think I'm going to *have* to start route
    planning via petrol stations...

    [1a] 'tween Chippy and Burford...

Ahh right, so certainly Cassington should be possible then.

    BTW, CIHAGM?

  7. I remember doing that with a dodgy GS550, which someone had fitted a
different, and smaller, tank to. Thrashing down the M5, got about 85 miles
from full to reserve. I did once get it to do more'n 100 from full to
reserve, by riding *very* gently - it was sunday, I was in the wilds of
pembrokeshire and half the garages were shut.

I believe "on the pipe" is the expression you're looking for :)
As you're in the Cotswolds, and I'm in Cheltenham, we ought to arrange
to meet at this Cassington place Dan mentions - any idea where it is?

    I'll bring my 750 turbo.
