A mate has asked me for recommendations for a riding school around the
Dunstable, Luton, St. Albans etc. area. He wants somewhere that he can
do his DAS while his 16 year old son gets his scooter licence.

Anyone recommend anywhere around there, please?

Vision in St Albans. They're the same people who run No-Limits
Trackdays. Alternatively, there's Smart Training in Ampthill, I think
    Molly knows them quite well.

Smart Motorcycle training does have a pretty good reputation but I'm an
instructor with them so I would say that. Before I joined them I checked
them out though. Bedfordshire Police use us for CBT's to DAS, the schools
also use us. The URL is in my sig.

We are also developing a new site here:

Jennifer used them for her CBT and they were *really* patient with
    her.

That's down to Jeff the owner, he makes sure that there is at least one
spare instructor to help any student that needs the extra help. If we think
the student is nervous we take them out on the road "one-to-one" and just
take our time. I've worked with other training schools where you often get
one instructor to four or five students (One-to-two on the road)

Top blokes and they do weekends, might be a bit out of your mate's way
though, depending on where he is.

There is no pass or fail with CBT, you either complete the course or you
    don't - apparently it's not a test.

You are correct sir. It is not a test as tests go but the students are
continually being tested throughout the course, they are not allowed to
proceed to the next part until they can achieve a certain level of
competence. It is not unusual for students being asked to come back to
complete the course because they did not satisfy the instructor that they
were safe. For example, a student must be able to complete a "U" turn and
an emergency stop during the road riding part of the course. We cannot issue
a CBT (DL196) if they don't do this to almost test standards. However, the
big difference is they are allowed to try a few time.

not a fail but she got fed up after the 3rd day of training and still
wasn't competent to get out on the road.

how can I be a grannie if I've never given birth.

    not gonna happen.

what I find a worse thought is the fact I'll be shagging a grandad.
