Right of way...

I pretty hazy on this and it's pretty academic as if I was to stand my
ground I think I would probably get flatten.

Powers of descriptive english not a strong suit of mine but here goes.

My last junction on my ride to work is a right hand turn with a filter
lane.

08:30 on coming traffic fairly busy and we have to wait our turn for a
gap in the on coming traffic.

Sometimes cars want to come out of the junction to turn right. They
have to check right and then left and then go. Mostly when this
happens the folks in the filter lane hold back and let them out...

except a bastard in a RangeRover who just comes out having just looked
right.

Three times in the last fortnight he has just flown out. The first
time I saw him he nearly took me out. I was not expecting (foolishly,
I admit) him not to stop and look my way... he didn't. This morning he
nearly pranged the 206 infront of me.

Who has the right of way in such situations?

I think it has to be said, if you're on a bike and he's in a Range Rover
it really isn't a contest. You might have legal right-of-way, but he'll
possibly not even notice when he runs you down.

I'd rather give way than be another smear on the road ...

 

Follow the geezer, then let his tyres down when he's not looking..
