Is this getting more common, or is it me? http://tinyurl.com/yscwnq Woman crashes her car on the A40 - minor head and leg injuries, nothing life-threatening. I don't mind the rapid response vehicle, the ambulance and the helicopter, but why the hell close the entire road for three hours? This is the main road into the county and the only A road to the Pembroke and Fishguard ferries, so a 3-hour closure will have brought significant inconvenience to a large number of people. I can just about understand it for a fatality where evidence needs to be gathered, but for a poorly leg and a headache? I passed an incident in France a couple of weeks ago. An 18-wheeler had left the road and got itself upside down in a ditch, with debris everywhere. There was a warning vehicle 1km ahead of the accident, and a couple of guys waving people into one lane to avoid the recovery vehicles. All traffic slowed to a reasonable speed, everyone got through, no-one was delayed. It wasn't exactly Health and Safety, but it worked.
