I have bought a road-legal trials bike new and I would like to know if
the tyres are road legal. When they wear out I'm planning to buy road
legal ones anyway but I would prefer not to have to spend any more
    money yet!

    There is a picture here:-

    Thanks very much

    Paging SteveH.

Do they bear the legend "Not For Highway Use"?
Have they got 'E' or DOT hieroglyphics?

Regardless of legality, you won't find those much fun on the road. There's
only about 1/4 of the tread area actually in contact with the tarmac, and
those big blocks will squirm about like a squirmy thing. Wet corners will
be interesting. Upside is, they won't last long on tarmac, so you'll be
replacing them soon anyway. I'd be inclined to lash out on some road tyres
now, and keep the knobblies in good nick for playdays.
