road legal?

If I'm missing a wing mirror, is the bike road legal? Rarely use the
left one anyway, favouring a glance instead.

My CBR600 just passed the MOT with no mirrors at all. It may contravene
    Construction and Use regs though.

My left one went wonky before my MOT, so I took it off on the principle
of 'if attached, must work'. Equally, it was fine on the MOT. I do tend
to feel a bit more nervy about 'stuff' over that shoulder though. I'd
    rather it was *there*, personally.

I'm the opposite really, I tend to only use the other one, preferring to
physically look over the left shoulder. I will get another one
eventually, as only having one tickles my symmetry OCD, but until a
suitable item appears on fleabay, I'll be exercising the neck muscles...

  5. For bikes, I believe the C&U regs are silent on mirrors, leaving it to
the rider to use his head when they are absent. Different for cars,
    though - minimums apply.

You have wings on your bike?

I'd find a missing right mirror more of a PITA.
I believe Brother Grimly to be correct on this matter.

It certainly felt like it when hitting an unexpectedly large bump at
hundred-and-eek mph a while back. For a relative novice like moi, that
    induced some serious pucker...
    Excellent. Much obliged.

Pucker, son, pucker? I'll tell you what induces pucker - the inner
fairing panel coming unglued from its cable tie and wind pressure
driving it up and back into the front brake lever at 140-odd with
sufficient force to leave a 20 metre skidmark from the front tyre and
a similar mark of similar length but of a different hue down the seat
.... before the pucker reflex can clamp it shut.

    That was pucker, that was.

Apparently, this was an issue when Big H built the first Blackbirds.
