The "West" want $2.50 a day or $750 a year to read their $1.20 paper
on-line, and you only get half the paper. Sounds like a good deal.

    Oh dearie me
Wheelie hoon clocked at 70kmh over limit

    11th July 2007, 7:00 WST

A man arrested for allegedly speeding 70kmh over the limit through Como on
one wheel of his motorcycle while carrying drugs, cash and a weapon last
night is expected to front court today.

The 34-year-old Munster man was allegedly clocked driving his Yamaha
motorcycle at 120kmh in a 50kmh zone while performing a wheelie on Canning
    Highway about 11.45pm.

Police stopped and searched the man on Thelma Street and allegedly found
more than $26,000, a double-edged knife and two bags of amphetamines
    weighing 10 grams in total.

The driver, who was allegedly driving under licence suspension for the
eighth time, was charged with reckless driving, possessing amphetamine with
intent to sell or supply, unlawful possession of the cash, possessing a
controlled weapon and driving without a valid drivers licence.

He is scheduled to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court this morning.

Under suspension for the eighth time? They should take his licence off him.

Unfortunately not the case in WA. We don't even have driver log-books yet.
East-West truckies drive to the SA-WA border on their log-books then close
them and drive non-stop to Perth, (after a few beers at border Village).

The difference is that by not chasing them everybody gets to live.

Huh? New cars have a device which allows the ignition to be turned off
    externally? Really? Mine doesn't.

Hey, I'm still alive. Why do you think that may be?

Are you going for your divers licence in a couple of years when you turn 17?

From above "Better to let him go. In most cases the coppers know who they
are and can pick them up later".
There's no good reason to put their lives in danger, or anyone elses.

Assuming they don't hit anybody on their travels.

Yes, and the technology can be 'foiled' very easily, and literally.

Ah! I see now, the net effect being the same means there is a difference.
    Glad I understood that.

Maybe if you bang your head against the wall a bit harder you might get it.

It's optional on base models and pretty standard on the luxury models
nowadays. Quite a good example of it a couple of years ago in the
centre of Melbourne during peak hour when the police had Holden remotely
disable a stolen car they were pursuing and then proceeded to smash the
windows, drag the occupant out and beat the **** out of him in the
    middle of the road.

How many car thieves, underage drivers etc are killed, injured or injure
others whilst not being pursued by Police? Do you count them in your
    comparison?

and don't forget to include the number of law abiding car owners who are
doing nothing wrong and not being chased but still manage to find
themselves embedding their cars into roadside furniture..

Should we arrange for them to be chased first?

    Seems only fair!

Why should the law-abiding not be given a good excuse for their crashes?

    Smacks of discrimination, that does.

That's an eye opener - I had no idea - I couldn't see any reference to
it on the Holden website - any clues you can pass as to where I can
    out more ?

God, you're dumb. Go back and read what net effect Nev was talking about. He
was talking about the net legal effect being no different, an that's why
there's no point in chasing them.

Yes, but it gets worse. The East-West traffic is mostly small stuff compared
to what goes North-South in WA. I see dozens of 12 axle vehicles on my
commute every day and at least one 13 axle 50 wheeeler a day. (Mitchells
tankers, prime mover with one steering and three drive axles, triple axle on
the rear, towing a six axle trailer). Single driver, going from Perth to
Newman or further. No log book, no control. I was recently passed by one of
these because I was only doing 100 in the 110 zone.
