Roof Boxer... first impressions.

Well, I've now slung a few miles on the bike under my belt since I acquired
one barely used Roof Boxer lid from one Cane of this parish.

Overall, it seems to do exactly what it says on the tin, albeit not as
simply as I thought it would be.

I'm still living in hope that once the front mech has been abused enough,
the whole shebang should bed in enough to make lowering the chin piece back
down whilst on the move, not quite the PITA it is at present.

The design is quite clever, if frustrating; if you want to reseal the visor
having raised it, you have to unclip the chin piece, and raise it up enough
so you can pull it back down with the visor.

If you don't do this, you can lower the visor, but will have a small gap,
blowing cold air straight onto your nose - not always a bad thing, I
    suppose.

The pop studs which clip the chin piece into place when lowered are
invariably a pain in the arse, and I live in hope this will subside with
    more use and abuse.

On the move, I'd say the noise levels when you're move aren't too sad at
all, considering how much gubbins are swelling out the side of either side
of your head, although to be fair I've generally stuck to sub £200 lids,
invariably of an FM persuasion, so maybe my expectations in this respect are
    lower than others.

I've found that this helmet makes *cough* speed cruising not as inviting as
it was previously with a normal full face lid - the hinge pods seem to
create that little bit more turbulence, that the last time I was cruising
along a private, unpoliced road at 120+, it was only comfy enough to stick
at for any length of time, if I tucked myself in behind the fairing.

Swapping visors over isn't that difficult, although I do wonder how many
times the decidedly flimsy locating plastics on the visors will put up with
a swap, before tearing or becoming as slack as that bint who did a 1000 or
    so men in one session.

Finally, I'd have never considered a 'peanut' before, but occasionally
raising the whole front and cruising about 'au natrelle' has been a
    surprisingly pleasant experience.

Overall I'd say the Roof Boxer was a good buy for anyone who wasn't planning
to spend their entire biking life at 120+, and who can accept that the
design is decidedly flawed in terms of raising and lowering the visor and
chin piece, especially whilst on the move.

Now, if Cane would like to eat a few more pies before ordering a full set of
armoured Dainese only to decide he hasn't got a Dainese shaped body, I'd be
    eternally grateful.
