New York was breezy and sunny, we had clear skies all the way to California with only a hint of rain. Ok, it was from this New York http://tinyurl.com/yqn6p To this California http://tinyurl.com/2qhem It was the 9th run (MAG organised I think). The start was at the Old Union Inn , which is in the middle of nowhere but has one of those bars that never shuts[1], on Friday night after a fansatic ride over the Woodhead and via Lincoln. The evening started with the question "Do you do food?" and answer "Yes, what do you want ?" After a bit of haggling we ended up with a full beef dinner for £3 each. Two friends (Mike and Moira) who had got us the run tickets didn't turn up until 22:00, soaked, seems they missed the afternoon sun [2] Saturday was clear but a bit breezy, we set off on 3 bikes ahead of the crowd as a large contingent of HDs and HDesque bikes were around and would be a bit too ploddy for us. Jean led the way to Hunstanton via Kings Lynn in a right "get there" mood as she utilised the "biker lane" to full effect on the A17[3]. We did ice cream at Hunstanton (only town on East coast to face West) and then bimbled down the A149 via Wells and Cromer (fish and chips) until we got to California [4]. he A149 is a stonking road, but is probabaly spoilt in the summer by holiday traffic. At California there is a holiday park and a pub. Thats it. I could not help but think of the parents that are total cnuts who tell their kids they are having a fortnights holiday in California this year. As we arrived in California I noticed Mike's tyre was flat [5], so we had to get the "shit" out and fill the tyre with it to get him back to the campsite. We drank (again) etc etc etc. We left Mike and Moira to get the breakdown home, headed back via Norwich/Newark, rained from Sheffield onwards as we came back down the Woodhead. Back home, knackered due to serious lack of sleep (it was fooking cold, especially when needing a pee in the night after all he ale). I am coming round to Ace's view over camping ..... [1] Still serving at 02:00 [2] Sort of was not their weekend. [3] Shite road [4] Shite hole [5] Not his weekend really
