Well I suppose it depends.. The 350cc I rode for most of the trip was
one of the most reliable on the trip, aside from suffering from a
recurring case of rear puncture. The 500cc on which I was enjoying the
twisty road north of Chandigarh was quite reliable till it blew the
decompressor out of the head ... http://tinyurl.com/6hmvvn .. and
    required it's 2nd head-transplant of the trip.

Rules of grammar are supposed to be static. Otherwise the meaning of a sentence
can change dramatically. And if one lot use different rules to another lot then
you get problems with written communication.

The usage of particular words and how they're spelled may change perhaps.

The price of parts is not important if you never have to buy any.

Would I be correct in thinking that we both share a fondness for Lynne
    Truss' book?

  8. Says who?
And does over time. It used to take a long time, but I think the
internets and SMS speech will see this accelerating at one hell of a
    rate.
Yep - try talking to generation Y and I think you'll see where it
    heading.

"The usage of particular words". Umm, if that isn't grammar, I don't
    know what is.

Changing the subject a little. All the research I've done to date suggests a
very high satisfaction rate with the Bullet. The only issues that tends to
come up is some initial running in niggles (eg. critical to run the engine
in correctly and some initial niggles with electrics).

Looking at the used market (globally), many seem to be reasonably low
mileage. The downside is that not many are for sale, which may suggest that
even with their low sales volume they tend to be kept for long periods.

I suspect most are a "sunny summer Sunday afternoon" bike for people
    to pootle on.

John at MotoCiclio tells me has has some owners who do commute
regularly on theirs and who give them a fairly hard time but the bikes
seem to cope. Most do seem to be low mileage weekend bikes though.

I haven't visited much lately, but I do seldom see them in for service
or for any major work. (The one from Canberra with the broken
manifold and the choke on permanently to compensate is the only one I
can think of that needed anything major, and I'm not sure you can
    blame the bike for that!).

  15. Don't get me wrong, I want proper use of grammar. But I don't believe
grammar teachers or even dictionary writers can define where the
language goes. It goes where it goes. And it will change more and more
rapidly. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, I dunno. I'm
inclined to think a good thing, otherwise we'd still be speaking a
    mishmash of Germanic Latin.

English is a very expressive language, albeit a pain in the arse one
to learn. And the way both spelling and grammar change over time
contribute to its complexity but also to its beauty. YMMV

    I got a Suzuki 250 for my ex-wife about 12 years ago.

    Bloody good swap.

  17. A friend of mine in Alice Springs had one (a 350), he rode it to Perth
and to the East Coast a few times. I dont think it let him down other
than having to adjust the valves on the road sometimes (not happy with
unleaded fuel in that sort of use). Once he had hardened seats fitted
no probs at all. He now has a Triumph T100.

  18. He wanted her to suffer the same as him,
so that when either bike broke down,
she would see that all the excuses he had been giving about breaking down
    were in fact true ??

I had a Tiger 100 in 1961 and I could have ridden it anywhere at any given
    time
Not so sure about getting back though
