Rozzers close M61

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Sep 23, 2004.

  1. In the papers today - the M61 was shut for several hours yesterday after
four police cars crashed into each other. Greater Manchester Police said
they were on a training exercise.

    Boggle.

Guess they were training in that boxing-in manoeuvre they adopt if all else
has failed to stop a nutter who's endangering the public at large. Or
    perhaps they were pissed.

I see that that they are claiming whiplash injuries. Yeah right!

Sounds like a good scam: **** up on the job, then claim compensation.
Presumably the last driver to crunch has something equally inventive he
    can claim for.

No, it'll just be whiplash like the all the others. The fact that this type
of injury is caused by a shunt from the rear will make no difference.

On another note, I see that the copper who was driving uninsured, fled
the scene of the accident he was involved in, got his car resprayed,
and got his sister and girlfriend to lie for him to provide an
    alibi.....

....got fined 400-odd quid by the Police Authority and kept his job.
    Sheesh.

    C**ts.

I get 3 points for a safe 87 on an empty motorway.

Meanwhile the filth can pile up cars left right and centre.

    What's safer? 87 or a t*ssing motorway pile-up?

Why can't the c**ts spent less time freaking about speed and more time
worrying about enforcing safe driving and driving safely
    themselves....

Especially as if the policeman was there... was it empty?

    dwb says...
Of course the policeman could have been parked up on a bridge, or it
could have been one of the many Safety Camera Partnerships with a van
    and a camera.

I'm not saying that he got a raw deal or anything, you get caught, you
accept it. Just don't make assumptions.

Plod were in a scamera van - twas in the early day's of the Talivan
and I hadn't heard of them. I just saw a very 'non-traffic' looking
plod van on a motorway bridge. As you can tell I didn't slow for it
'cos it didn't cross my mind they were up to no good. (90mph was my
    standard speed at the time)

Road *was* empty but t'was indeed a fair cop 'cos I *was* doing the
speed. (But not a reasonable one)

As it happens I do feel I got a raw deal. There aren't many
non-motoring offences where you don't start off with a few cautions.

Having all of your respect for plod evaporate in the flash of a camera
does have one advantage. Three weeks later a nutter killed one of them
and I was able to laugh instead of feeling pissed off and angry.

A few weeks after that I saw a PC get gobbed on outside a night
club... Would have pissed me off before but it seemed very funny from
*this* side of the law IYSWIM.

  14. Ditto mate. I got stopped last night and the first one I spoke to who
got out of the car, was actually so nice I couldn't bring myself to be
anything but civil. His mate was doing his best to be a **** but by that
time I was full of gladness.

I got a ticket to fix my number plate, now done, and some advice about
speed limits and how to stick to them. I could've easily been done for
    speeding, but wasn't.

A bit of courtesy on both sides goes a long way, saves everyone a lot of
time and frees their resources to catch real criminals (like Turbo boi
that zoomed past with a "Pssst" waste gate) :)

Luckily it happend some hours after I'd gone to work (11am ish), and
was clear some hours before I returned home.

It's annoying that they can play silly buggers, but they love to wheel
out a speed camera to pick out anyone going a bit too fast[1]. They
have a favourite spot, one bridge hidden behind another, but I do
wonder how many people you get. The sea of brake lights coming on
under bridge#1 is a dead giveaway. However, it still pisses me off as
it takes ages to get back up above 80 in the renault 5.

[1] Ok, they've had the training that (for instance) I've not, but they
    still fucked it up royally.

Doestn surprise me - all the thousands of high speed TPAC training
manouvres that take place every year one is going to go wrong - just
law of averages. they have to practice - and there is a risk every
time they do - but only to themselves. Did one two weeks ago on a
child kidnap - bit of damage when he tried to smash his way out (and
    failed) but child recovered uninjured.
