Ruben Xaus won on street tires...?

I just watched the Imola WSB races, and it seems like I'm the only one who
went "hum" when Ruben Xaus told Suzi Perry during the post race-2
    interview:
"The tires were fine, Michelin wanted to show to
everyone that they can win with a street tire design
and they did today. We did even better lap times than
    the slick tires in race-1"

Did he really race the Michelin H2's or something... or was this just a
marketing ploy..? I'm confused (more than usual).

Looked like a cut slick to me.....
You can do it when over-heating is not a problem.
