I seem to have got myself in the position of having to get a bike run
in and get it's 500 mile service done between this Friday afternoon and
the Thursday before the TOG Tour departure.

I hope the forecast for the weekend is good.

Best of luck. I'm in a similar position about a change of tyres.

I was going to get the BT45's on t'Bandit replaced after the French
Run but the 200 mile journey to Derby had the rear near the the wear
indicator and the trip back to Kent finished them off. Front and rear
BT45's were therefore ordered this morning.

Odd choice.. why'd you go for 45's when 020's would be a better
selection, and the ones that bridgestones website suggests for the
    bandit 6 nowadays?

Can I be your new best friend please? I am sure you'll want to have a
go on my 955 so that you can appreciate the advantages all the more of
the later model. I'll keep an eye on your bike while you're gone.

That's very kind of you but I already know that the 955 model is far
    too heavy.

It was your's that TOG and I helped you bump start off of the ferry
last year wasn't it? Of course, it could have just been the weight of
    the rider )

I am afraid it was. Of course you have my eternal gratitude, which is
why I am more than happy to safeguard your pride and joy for you.

You'll be pleased to know that the battery I put in in France last May
is still going strong so I'm fully expecting to not require any such
favours this year. I do hope there aren't any deer en route....

They had BT45's on them already. Most of the mileage will be upright
commuting so it's more useful for me to have a more hard-wearing
    centre strip to the tyre.

I did consider Avons but I've been happy with the BT45's it's had on
for nearly a year. Plus I've already ordered them.

020s are longer lasting than BT45s, you numpty. Avons are longer lasting

  13. How do you work that out then, I thought the 020s are supposed to be
    softer?

I understood that the 020's were softer and, according to
Bridgestone's website the 45's have a harder compound down the centre
so they last longer when commuting upright. Anyway, I'm happy with
the 45's that were on the Bandit when I purchased it, I was happy with
them on my old ER-5 and I've ordered them already.

And get your chain guard fastened properly while you're farting about with
the wheels. It could have some fuckers eye out that thing could.

Oh yes, Scraggy has also pointed this out to me. It needs something
as simple as a nut. Or a cable tie. Will do this tomorrow before
    work.

When it fell over a few months ago (slippery road) and snapped the LHS
peg hanger off it lost the screw then.
