I have to decide which disc to put on the front of the 2C/375. One
possibility is this weird item which came with the Forgotten Error donor
bike. It's drilled. Never seen that on a Morini before. Also pretty
    rusty. Rusty beyond re-use?

  2. I doubt it. only way to be sure is fit it, use the brakes a few times to
clean off the surface rust and test the effectiveness, and take it from
    there.

I've seen the rusty part before, mainly when someone machined the chrome
off the friction surface to improve the brakes. Not sure why they
thought it clever to cross drill the rotor though, given that this tends
    to lead to more problems...

I've seen disks that were a lot worse (Guzzi csst iron ones, for
example) that cleaned up pretty nicely after the brakes were applied a
    few times.

Looks a tad pitted to me but no obvious cracks. It should clean up
with a bit of effort but the braking will not be quite as good as
a nice flat one. A few thousand miles with sintered pads should wear
    it a bit flatter.

Someone on the Morini list pointed out that the holes were not only
probably too small to be of much use, but as arranged likely to cause
grooves in the pads. Might give it a go though as it would save having
to drop the front wheel out of the Forgotten Error to retrieve the disk
    from that.
