Cleaned the Guzzi today and have found what appears to be a bit of surface rust on the chrome wheels. I'm slightly annoyed about this for what is a brand new bike, it has got wet but its never *stayed* wet. Firstly is there any point pursuing this with the dealer? And secondly, whats the best way to clean it up, and more importantly, stop it happening again? Poor picture here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gavsta/5560901651/ -- Gavin. AIUI, chrome is porous and so if it's plated straight onto steel, it will always rust, even if undamaged, unless you put something on it. WD40, oily rag, acf50 etc. should all keep the rust away. Top quality chroming is triple plated iirc, copper, something else, and the chrome itself. Even that's not 100% guaranteed not to rust.
Not all Italian bikes rust, break or fall apart.... just Jean's Still in "Punta Arenas" .... for want of a small seal.
Bit of a wait, I'm afraid. They won't start giving birth until October due to the reversal of seasons down there.
