    And the award for the 2004 aus.moto most paranoid poster goes to....

    Go to the bank (actually you don't even need to go to the bank, just go to
    their website and search for a fee free credit card). Apply for that credit
    card (unless you're too paranoid to give a bank your personal details) and
    just request a low limit and only use that card number for online purchases.
    It is mostly unnecessary though, because in [almost] all circumstances the
    onus is on the merchant to prove that a transaction they have billed to your
    card is valid, in [almost] all circumstances of genuine fraud you are only
    liable for the first $50 and in [almost] all circumstances the bank will waive
    the $50 liability.
