Says the spokesman for the Stating-the-Bleedin'-Obvious party! Now you've come out of the closet I feel empowered to ask if it's the FD problem you previously reported or something else. Kevin
?>"Kevin" wrote in message it was throwing oil on the shaft side of the wheel ever since I had the inner seal replaced. I took it back after two weeks and was told I'd probably run through a puddle on that side and that's what the marks on the wheel are (this is Vines Guildford and I can't believe I swallowed this) 2 weeks later, and a dry week and they were still there, cleaned the wheel, a quick 50 miles and the rear was covered on this side. not wet oily stuff, just weird spots that then ran to the edge. Took in yesterday, they found they the wheel bolts had been put in with a normal grease (and a lot of it) an not slip grease (whatever that is) this was getting hot and throwing itself on to the wheel they claim they don't have that grease and no mechanic would have done it. they asked the guy who fitted the seal and he denied doing it, so they pointed to me saying I used the wrong grease as I must had had the wheel off. Bloody cheek of it,. I don't event have the torx bits yet!. Anyway, the bikes sound, no leaks and all is well. The S1000 was limited due to it not being run it (146bhp I think) but was a good hoot for the short time I had it.
While I've only been in four BMW dealers I have to say that I didn't receive good service in two of the four - Coopers of Tunbridge Wells where the salesman couldn't be bothered to get out of his chair when I wanted to look at a GSA and Cannon Motorcycles, who were then in Chelmsford, where the salesman couldn't be bothered to serve me at all as I was only interested in spending £300 on a jacket. Perhaps poor service is the norm for BMW Motorrad UK? Rainbow Motorcycles in Rotherham OTOH bent over backwards to be helpful - replacing a battery at an hours notice even though I wasn't an existing customer and spending time with me looking at a GSA while I was waiting even though I'd told the salesman I wasn't in a position to buy at the moment. The BMW dealer in Bucharest where we had the GS serviced was also very good. I'm hoping to p/x the GS for a GSA later this year and Rainbow will be my first port of call even though they're not exactly local. Kevin
I bought my K1100 from Rainbow. It was an eBay purchase that they'd just punted out to get shot of it. I couldn't believe how helpful they were, picked me up from the station, offered to let me turn the bike down if I didn't think it had been well described (it had). If I was buying another BMW (I'm not) then I would also want to put my money in Rainbow's pocket.
