Sabbatani's new brakes

Check out Sabbatani's new brakes, they are using a liquid magnetic
polymer that turns to a solid when a voltage is applied. The hub is
non rotating and by using complex castings and insulators, the wheel
rotates about the hub and has vanes inside the fluid. When Sabb' uses
the brake lever he applies a voltage to the polymer and the vanes are
progresively slowed by the thickening polymer! The higher the voltage
the thicker the polymer becomes, this has been experimental stuff for
some years now but it was only a matter of time before someone came up
    with a use for it.

Who is Sabbatani? And aside from being a very cool concept, this type of
brake is better than conventional disks in what way? Sounds like they could
be a lot heavier than disks and could have heat dissipation issues. Not to
mention needing a hella-powerful electricity source.

GM is using it in shock absorbers to effect dampening. IIRC on the C6
    Corvette.

What if the battery goes on the blink? He's a splatter.

  7. What happens if the brake line splits open on a conventional
    system?

  10. Who attached the conventional lines to the master cylinder?

Who soldered the big honkin' backup capacitor to the
    electro brake controler?

    :)
