Salutes to Rossi...

  1. Rossi proved his point... he doesn't need a Honda to win... a inline 4
    design from 1939 will do...

Honda proved their point... you don't have to a Rossi to win on their
V5... it's the better race bike...

So get busy Laguna Seca and finish the track improvements for MotoGP...
don't make me come down there with C4...

Yep. He didn't just sit in second, and be content to claim the
championship. He won it with much panache.

    How did they prove that?

  4. It was an incredible finish today at Philip Island.
What is *your* point? (A rhetorical question.)
Instead of spec. tires like they used in WSB this year, let's just give
every rider the same Honda V5. That would be a whole lot of fun to watch.
You're right it is the better race bike. Why, they shouldn't even bother
to run the races, just give the title to Honda, and everyone's happy.
And who exactly is going to pay for all those MotoGP improvements?

    (Don't worry--I know who's payin')

That last lap was one for the ages.

Next Year they'll be bringing the motogp circus to Laguna can't wait.

Were Yamaha even fielding as many riders as Honda?

Next season, Edwards will be Rossi's team mate, maybe they'll do better
    in the manufacturer's race.

  6. No... nobody wants to develop Yamaha's inline 4 when the Honda is so
    refined...
Next season Mr.Tacky Texan Nose Picker Edwards deserves his new ride
with Yamaha... just watch him cry... this ain't like my old Honda next
    year...

Well it's interesting to note, that Rossi beat his times from last year
on the RC211V on the M1. THat means they have clearly improved the
performance of the M1, with Rossi's input. So If Rossi was beating
everyone on the Honda, and doing so now, *AND* beating his own times
when he roe the Honda, what does that tell you?

  8. THat means they have clearly improved the
The M1 doesn't sound like your inline because of the way it fires
differently in order to tame the inherent peakyiness of an I4 power band...

    So If Rossi was beating
It tells me he would have shaved even more seconds off his lap times if
Yamaha would have built him a narrow V4 with the inherent wide power
    band advantage...

Yeah, but no one in their right mind would *buy* a motorcycle with a V4 in it.
So what would be the point?

A bit of a non sequitur, but funny you should mention the sound, as I
was thinking when Rossi was rolling up to the front row of the grid,
what a great sound was coming out of the M1.

    Why not a V6?
I think they are just beginnig to take their engineering as seriously as
Honda have been, now that they have a champion like Rossi to spearhead
their charge. They may come up with a new engine configuration but
I doubt it. Eitehr way, Honda must be feeling pretty stupid to have let
    him go now.

Wide power band has typically been the realm of motocross, flat track, and
hill climbing with road racing depending on peaky high reving HP motors to
maintain dominance. Has this changed recently?

    Think traction control.

The wider torque curve allows the rider to slam the throttle open and leave
    it there.

The peaky motor can blow the tire away when it hits.

I have available a patented throttle valve that may change all of that, much
easier for the rider to modulate and with a smaller bore size makes the same
HP as the current designs allowing even more torque to be developed.

  17. Isn't the whole point of the M1's firing order to give it a
    narrow-angle V4 traction/power pulse profile?

Me, I'm waiting for the StreetGrowlers to hit. EG, a ZX-6RR Growler.

  20. Given the current rules, since more cylinders than 5 are penalized with
    displacement restriction.

Anyway, IIRC vee twins kicked ass in WSB. That was this year,
    wasn't it? ;-)
