Not entirely, but had a pretty promising telephone interview today, and
the setup looks very interesting. Will probably know for sure within
    the next few weeks.

The best weather in the world, a beautiful, compact city, cheap bikes,
stunning roads, cheap vicodin from across the border. You'd be an
    idiot not to.

Downside: $500,000 min for a house and how much do you like mexicans?

The area rocks, the bikes are cheap and the beer is cold.

  10. Hell, no. The weather's crap, the women are ugly, the ocean's cold and
filthy, the people are obnoxiously materialistic, you'll have to deal with
earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires, awful traffic, ridiculous house prices,
gas is almost three bucks a gallon, car insurance costs are through the
roof, etc etc. Oh, and the locals on Mount Palomar Road are so pissed at
motorcyclists that they (allegedly) dump oil and/or sand on the corners.

    Three bucks a gallon...

    <dream mode>

What I'd give for three bucks a gallon...

  12. Actually it's closer to $2.20/gallon right now, which is about 32 pence per
    litre.

That's part of the reason why it's so expensive over here. It'd be far
more efficient to export it in barrels rather than nets.

Of course we used to use barrels, but the extra security required to
stop cheeky Cockney chappies from rolling them away became too
    expensive.

  18. When I was out that way (it is Kuwait you're in isn't it?) about 10
years ago, I seem to remember filling the car cost about 2 - 4 KD.

'bout the same now. 3.500KD for usual emptiness, 4.000KD if I'm
    running on fumes.
